Lost Treasures of the Shiqu Baoji in Hong Kong ─ Selection of Chinese Paintings and Calligraphies from the Xubaizhai Collection, Hong Kong Museum of Art

Hong Kong Heritage Museum
1/F Chao Shao-an Gallery
30 November 2016 – 20 March 2017

Presented by Leisure and Cultural Services Department
Organised by Hong Kong Museum of Art

Shiqu Baoji was the name given to the catalogues of the Qing dynasty imperial collection of Chinese painting and calligraphy during the Qianlong period. Many of the works recorded in the catalogues are now scattered or lost due to the social unrest, wars and theft that accompanied the demise of the Qing dynasty. This exhibition features 13 works selected from the Xubaizhai Collection that were previously in the imperial collection. The exhibition also highlights the significant role of Hong Kong as refuge and in conservation of China's cultural heritage during the last century. As the Hong Kong Museum of Art is temporarily closed for a major renovation project, this exhibition is staged at Hong Kong Heritage Museum.
