Reinventing the Traditions of Handmade Printing: Demonstration of Letterpress Printing

As the letterpress printing technique has gradually faded out from the printing industry in Hong Kong, some artists have tried to preserve this traditional technique, along with the equipment, to revitalise letterpress printing in their printmaking practices. The Hong Kong Heritage Museum has invited Nicole Chan and Lau Yan-cheong, two young letterpress printing artists, to demonstrate the operation of old printing presses and create prints of various types to display the unique texture and charm of letterpress prints.
